Raja Mantri Chor Sipahi is the chit game from every summer holiday. Four folded chits, four players, one question: who is the Chor? The Raja shows himself, the Mantri has to find the Chor, and the Chor has to keep a straight face.
It has been played across India for generations with torn notebook pages and a pencil for the score. The rules are simple, a round takes about 3 minutes, and the scores climb into the thousands, which is half the fun.

Rules: kaise khelte hain
The chits
There is one chit for each player. With 4 players the chits are Raja, Mantri, Sipahi and Chor. More players add more roles:
- 5 players: Senapati joins
- 6 players: Rani joins
- 7 players: Kotwal joins
- 8 players: Pandit joins
Pick a chit
The chits are shuffled face down on the screen. You get 10 seconds to tap one. Everyone can see which chits are gone and who took them, but never what is written on them. If you do not pick in time, you get a leftover chit.
Raja and Mantri come out
Now you see your own role. Everyone also sees who the Raja is and who the Mantri is. All other roles stay hidden. This part lasts 8 seconds, or less if everyone taps Ready.
The Mantri finds the Chor
The Mantri gets 30 seconds to name one player as the Chor. They cannot name the Raja or themselves.
While the Mantri thinks, everyone else can post a short bluff line of up to 40 characters, like "Main toh Sipahi hoon yaar". The lines show up under each name. The Chor can bluff too, of course.
Result
All the chits are opened. If the Mantri named the Chor, it is Pakda gaya. If not, or if the time ran out, it is Chhoot gaya. Tap Ek aur round for fresh chits.
Points kaise milte hain
Each role has fixed points: Raja 1000, Rani 900, Mantri 800, Kotwal 700, Senapati 600, Sipahi 500, Pandit 300 and Chor 0. If the Mantri catches the Chor, everyone gets their role's points and the Chor gets 0. If the Mantri guesses wrong or runs out of time, the Mantri gets 0 and the Chor takes the Mantri's 800. Everyone else still gets their normal points. If the Raja, Mantri or Chor leaves after the chits are shown, the round is void and nobody scores. Mandli is points-only: no money, no betting, no prizes.
Jeetne ke tips
- As the Chor, do not go silent. Post a bluff line like everyone else.
- As the Mantri, look at who bluffs too hard. The real Sipahi rarely needs to shout about it.
- With 4 players it is a coin toss between two people, so enjoy the drama and do not overthink.
- With 6 to 8 players there are more places to hide. Watch for the player whose line changes a lot.
- Play several rounds. Scores add up across rounds in the room, and one lucky Raja chit does not decide the game.
Ghar wale rules aur variants
The classic version is exactly four players with Raja, Mantri, Chor and Sipahi. Mandli plays the same way with 4, and adds Senapati, Rani, Kotwal and Pandit when more people join.
Many families use other numbers, like Raja 1000, Mantri 500, Sipahi 250. Mandli uses one fixed set, shown above, so scores make sense across rounds.
For 5 to 15 people, Mandli has a separate game with a Jasoos who can peek at one chit and, with 10 or more, two Mantris chasing a Chor and a Daaku.
Raja Mantri Chor Sipahi online kaise khelein
In Mandli you create a room and share the link on WhatsApp, or show a QR code to friends in the same room. Friends without the app join from the browser. No login, just a name and a colour. In Saath mode everyone sits together and argues out loud. In Door mode the voice chat is built into the game, with mic and speaker buttons, and nothing is recorded. If someone's net drops, their seat is held so they can come back. Scores carry across rounds and games in the room, so the Raja of the evening is whoever is on top at the end. It is free and has no ads.
