Gaon mein Daaku is Mafia, set in a village. A few daaku are hiding among the gaonwale. Every night they loot one house. Every morning the village gathers at the panchayat, argues, and votes someone out. The gaonwale win when every daaku is gone. The daaku win when they are as many as everyone else.
In the usual Mafia game one friend has to sit out as the narrator and run everything. In Mandli the app is the Sutradhar. It deals the roles, calls the night, tells you who got looted, and counts the votes. So all 6 to 15 of you get to play.
A full game of this Mafia game takes about 20 minutes, and it works both sitting in one room and over voice when everyone is at home.
Kya chahiye: Just phones. The app is the Sutradhar, so nobody has to moderate.
Rules: kaise khelte hain
Roles
Everyone gets a secret role on their phone:
- Daaku: loot one person each night. Daaku know each other.
- Vaidya: save one person each night.
- Havaldar: check one person each night and learn if they are a daaku.
- Gaonwala: no night power, just your vote and your sense.
There is 1 daaku with 6 to 9 players, 2 with 10 to 14, and 3 with 15. There is always one Vaidya and one Havaldar. You get 15 seconds to peek at your role card.
Night
Night lasts up to 40 seconds. Every living player taps one person on their phone, whatever their role, so nobody can tell who is doing what. Daaku see each other's picks live. Gaonwale mark a suspect, which does nothing but keeps everyone tapping.
- The daaku loot the person with the most daaku picks. If the daaku split evenly, nobody is looted that night.
- The Vaidya can save themselves, but not the same person two nights in a row.
- The Havaldar privately learns "Daaku hai" or "Daaku nahi hai".
In Saath mode night lasts at least 20 seconds, so a quick finish gives nothing away.
Morning
The Sutradhar announces who was looted, or that everyone survived. It never says whether the Vaidya saved someone. The Havaldar sees their result privately.
Panchayat (talk)
The village talks for 2 minutes by default. The host can set 1, 2 or 3 minutes before the game, add 60 seconds once per day, or end the talk early. It also ends when every living player taps Ready.
Vote and exile
Everyone alive gets 30 seconds to vote for a player or for Kisi ko nahi. You see who has voted, not for whom. A player is exiled only if more than half of the living players vote for them. Otherwise nobody goes.
If the host left Show role on (the default), the role of an exiled or looted player is shown. If it is off, roles stay hidden until the end.
Who wins
After each morning and each exile the app checks. Gaonwale win when no daaku are left. Daaku win when living daaku are at least as many as everyone else alive. If 15 nights pass with nobody going out, the game ends and the daaku win.
Points kaise milte hain
Everyone on the winning team gets 3 points, alive or not. Winners who are still alive at the end get 1 more. The Vaidya gets 1 point for each successful save, and the Havaldar gets 1 point for each daaku found. If the last daaku leaves the room, the game is void and nobody scores. Mandli is points-only, with no money or prizes.
Jeetne ke tips
- Havaldar, do not reveal yourself on day one. The daaku will loot you that night.
- Daaku, spread your picks carefully. A split between you means nobody is looted.
- Gaonwale, notice who pushes hardest to exile someone who turns out to be a gaonwala.
- Vaidya, you cannot save the same person twice in a row, so plan ahead.
- Use Kisi ko nahi when the village has no real lead. A wrong exile helps the daaku.
Ghar wale rules aur variants
In the classic Mafia or Werewolf game one person narrates and knows every role. In Mandli the app narrates, so there is no narrator seat.
Some groups add roles like a Jester or a Sniper. Mandli has four roles only: Daaku, Vaidya, Havaldar and Gaonwala.
Gaon mein Daaku online kaise khelein
Create a room in Mandli and send the link on WhatsApp, or show the QR code to people in the same room. Friends without the app join from the browser link. No login, just a name and a colour. In Saath mode every phone shows a full-screen "Raat ho gayi, aankhein band" card at night, and you talk out loud in the morning. In Door mode the game has voice chat with mic and speaker buttons, nothing recorded. At night every mic is turned off, and players who are out stay muted. The host sets the talk length and Show role in the lobby. If someone's net drops, their seat is held. Points carry across games in the room. It is free, with no ads.
Sawaal jawaab
How do you play the Mafia game?
Players get secret roles. At night the mafia (in Gaon mein Daaku, the daaku) choose someone to remove, and special roles try to save or investigate. During the day everyone discusses and votes one person out. The village wins by removing all the mafia.
Can you play Mafia online without a narrator?
Yes. In Gaon mein Daaku the app is the Sutradhar. It deals roles, runs the night, announces the morning and counts votes.
How many players do you need for the Mafia game?
Mandli's version needs at least 6 and supports up to 15. The number of daaku grows with the group: 1, 2 or 3.
What do the Vaidya and Havaldar do?
The Vaidya protects one person each night, but not the same person two nights running. The Havaldar checks one person each night and privately learns if they are a daaku.
What happens on a tied vote?
Nobody is exiled. A player goes out only when more than half of the living players vote for them.
