"Maine kabhi class bunk nahi ki." If you have, one finger goes down. That is the whole game, and it is enough to fill an evening with stories.
Kabhi Nahi Kiya is Never Have I Ever for Indian groups. Everyone starts with 5 fingers. The app shows a statement, and each player secretly taps Kiya (done it) or Nahi Kiya (never). Every Kiya costs a finger. The reveal shows how many people have done it, and that is when someone says "acha, kaun tha?"
Mandli has over 300 Never Have I Ever statements in Hinglish, about school, college, ghar, khana, travel, phone and filmy life. Each statement takes under a minute, and a full game runs 5, 10 or 15 statements for 3 to 15 players.
Kya chahiye: Just phones. Taps are secret and the app keeps the finger count.
Rules: kaise khelte hain
Five fingers
Everyone starts with 5 ungliyan. The game lasts for the number of statements the host chose: 5, 10 or 15. Each statement is one round, and your fingers carry from one round to the next until the game ends.
The statement
A statement appears for 3 seconds, always in the form Maine kabhi ... nahi kiya. For example: Maine kabhi exam mein poora pen khatam nahi kiya, or Maine kabhi homework ka bahana kutte pe nahi daala.
Kiya or Nahi Kiya
You have 12 seconds to tap Kiya or Nahi Kiya, and you can change until you tap Lock. If you do not answer in time, it counts as Nahi Kiya, so the clock can never force a confession. Each Kiya costs one finger. At 0 fingers you can keep playing for fun, but you cannot go lower.
The reveal
For 10 seconds the reveal shows the count, like 4 ne kiya, 6 ne nahi. Anyone can tap Aage, and the host can move everyone along. With names off, only counts are shown, and other players' fingers stay hidden until the end, so nobody can work out who said Kiya.
End of the game
The game ends after the last statement, or earlier if only one player (or nobody) has fingers left. The result shows everyone's final fingers, the points and the Sabse sharif title for the player with the most fingers left.
Host settings
The host picks a topic: Sab mix, School, College, Ghar, Khana, Travel, Phone, Filmy or Sharmnaak. Sharmnaak statements only come up when the host picks that topic. The host also sets the number of statements, and can turn on Kisne kiya naam dikhao, which shows names on each side and live finger counts. It is off by default.
Points kaise milte hain
When the game ends, each finger you still have is worth 1 point, so 0 to 5. The player with the most fingers left gets 2 more as Sabse sharif, and if several players tie, they all get it. In a room of 4 or more, if you are the only one who tapped Kiya on a statement, you get 1 point for owning it. Points are added once, at the end of the finger game.
Jeetne ke tips
- Be honest. The app cannot check, and the Akela point rewards owning up.
- Use the reveal to ask for the story. The count is just the start.
- Keep names off with a new group, and turn them on with close friends.
- With 3 or 4 players, a count of 1 ne kiya is easy to guess even with names off. Play with 5 or more for real secrecy.
- Pick 5 statements for a warm-up and 15 for a long evening.
Ghar wale rules aur variants
At home everyone holds up ten or five fingers and lowers one in front of everyone. Mandli keeps your taps secret by default, so people answer more honestly.
Never Have I Ever is often played as a drinking game. Mandli is a points-only party game and does not include drinking.
