"Born in a small town, went to Mumbai with no contacts..." Could be anyone. Then the next clue comes, and the next, and suddenly it's obvious. Pehchaan Kaun is a guess the celebrity game where clues show up one at a time, from hard to easy, and the sooner you name the person, the more you score.
The cards cover film stars, cricketers, other sportspeople, musicians, freedom fighters and famous characters from films, TV and comics. It is text only, with no photos. Eight cards a round, about five minutes, and a good test of who in your mandli actually knows their stuff and who waits for clue five.
Kya chahiye: Just phones. The app drips the clues and checks names.
Rules: kaise khelte hain
Pick the category
In the lobby the host picks Sab (all), Bollywood, Cricket, Itihaas, Khel, Music or Kirdaar (famous characters), and a level: Sab, Aasaan, Mast or Mushkil. A round is 8 cards.
Clues come one by one
Each card has 5 clues. Clue 1 appears at once, and a new one comes every 5 seconds, so clue 5 lands at 20 seconds. After that you get 10 more seconds, 30 seconds per card in all. Clue 1 is the hardest; clue 5 nearly gives it away.
Type the name
Type the name whenever you know it. The full name works, and so do well-known nicknames and the surname on its own, unless another card shares that surname. Small typos are fine.
You get 3 wrong tries per card. A near miss shows "Kareeb hai!" to you alone and doesn't use a try. Nobody sees anyone else's guesses; they only see a tick and the clue number you solved on.
Reveal and result
The card ends when time runs out, or when everyone has got it or used their tries. For 6 seconds you see the name, all 5 clues, and who got it at which clue. After 8 cards comes the leaderboard.
Points kaise milte hain
Points depend on which clue was on screen when your right answer reached the server: 100 at clue 1, 80 at clue 2, 60 at clue 3, 40 at clue 4 and 20 at clue 5 or after. The first person to get each card earns 10 more. Wrong guesses cost nothing except a try. Ties stand, and scores carry across games in the room.
Jeetne ke tips
- Guess early if you have a hunch. A wrong try costs nothing but the try.
- Surnames are quicker to type, as long as they're unique.
- Read every clue again when a new one comes. Together they narrow it fast.
- If you see Kareeb hai, fix the spelling instead of changing the name.
