Dumb Charades is the game of every family function and hostel night. One person acts out a Bollywood movie without saying a word, and their team shouts names until someone gets it. Somebody always ends up doing Sholay with a pretend horse.
In Mandli, Dumb Charades is played in two teams, Team Laal and Team Neela. The actor gets a movie on their phone, 90 seconds and one skip. Guess it fast and your team gets bonus points for the time left.
The movie list has 590 Hindi films, from the 70s to the 2020s, marked aasaan, mast or mushkil. A round takes about 14 minutes for 4 to 20 players, and you can play Dumb Charades in one room or with friends in different cities.

Rules: kaise khelte hain
Teams
At the start the app splits everyone into Team Laal and Team Neela, with team sizes differing by at most one. The host has 20 seconds to reshuffle once, set turns per team (2 to 5, default 3), pick the level and the movie era, then tap Shuru.
Taking turns
Teams take turns: Laal, Neela, Laal and so on. Inside a team, actors rotate so everyone acts before anyone acts twice. Before each turn the screen shows who acts next for 6 seconds, and the actor can tap Taiyaar to start early.
Act it out in 90 seconds
Only the actor sees the movie. They have 90 seconds to act it out: no talking, no lip-reading tricks. Their team guesses. The actor gets one skip per turn, and the clock keeps running after a skip.
- In Saath mode, the team shouts guesses and the actor taps Sahi, and can mark who guessed it.
- In Door mode, teammates can also type guesses. A typed guess that matches the movie ends the turn at once, and the app accepts small spelling mistakes.
Turn end and challenges
When the turn ends, the movie is shown to everyone for 8 seconds. If the actor tapped Sahi, the other team can tap Galat tha to challenge it. The challenge wins when more than half of the other team taps it, and the turn then scores 0.
Result
After the last turn, the result shows both team totals, personal bonuses and every movie from the round. If team points are equal, it says Barabar and both keep their points. Tap Ek aur round to play again with new movies.
Movies, levels and eras
The host picks a level: Mix, Aasaan, Mast or Mushkil. And an era: Sab, 70s-90s, or 2000 ke baad. The list covers the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s.
Points kaise milte hain
When a movie is guessed, the acting team gets 10 points, plus 1 for every full 15 seconds left on the clock, up to 5 more. The actor gets 3 personal points. The player who guessed it gets 2 personal points, when they typed it in Door mode or the actor marked them in Saath mode. If time runs out, or a Sahi is overturned by a challenge, the turn scores 0. At the end, team points go to every player on the team, and personal points are added on top.
Jeetne ke tips
- Start with the classic signs: fingers for the number of words, then which word you are acting.
- Act the easiest word first. A strong start often gives away the whole title.
- Use the skip early if the movie is too hard. Waiting only burns time bonus.
- Guessers, call out everything. Wrong guesses help the actor steer you.
- Pick Aasaan for family groups with kids, and Mushkil for film buffs.
Ghar wale rules aur variants
At home the other team usually whispers a movie to the actor. In Mandli the app picks from its list, so nobody can choose something impossible.
Some groups also act out songs or TV serials. Mandli's Dumb Charades uses Hindi movies only.
Dumb Charades online kaise khelein
Create a room in Mandli and share the link on WhatsApp, or show the QR code to people in the same room. Friends without the app join from the browser link, no login needed, just a name and a colour. In Saath mode everyone is together and the team shouts guesses. In Door mode there is voice chat inside the game with mic and speaker buttons, nothing recorded, and the actor can switch on their camera for their turn so the team can see them act. The camera is off by default and only the actor's is used. Up to 20 people can play Dumb Charades in a room. Points carry across games. It is free and has no ads.
